Graphic Design & Layout

My journey in graphic design began in sixth grade when I immersed myself in creating video game assets for personal projects alongside a friend. This early exploration ignited a passion for visual arts that I eagerly pursued in my spare time, crafting portraits of celebrities and acquaintances. Upon entering Lake Central High School, I enrolled in a Graphic Design and Layout course, marking my formal introduction to the field of graphic arts and production. As I delved deeper into the curriculum, I seized opportunities to contribute to projects within the school's graphic arts department. My dedication and proficiency led to acceptance into the Area Career Center in Hammond, IN, a specialized institution renowned for its focus on trade professions. During my tenure at the Area Career Center, I honed and expanded my graphic design skills, gaining valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of production. I eagerly tackled daily assignments, mastering techniques such as screen printing and heat pressing for a range of apparel items including T-shirts, hoodies, and sweatpants. Additionally, I delved into the intricacies of vinyl cutting, finding immense satisfaction in the precision and versatility it offered. Driven by my passion for the craft, I invested in a personal vinyl cutter/plotter, enabling me to further refine my skills outside the classroom environment. Over the past two years, I have consistently utilized this equipment to execute projects and refine my abilities. Now, at 23 years old and pursuing higher education, I remain dedicated to advancing my skills and knowledge in graphic design, poised to make meaningful contributions to the field.Here.

Offset Lithography

As a Pressman at Lithographic Communications since early 2020, I've operated both digital and sheet-fed offset lithography presses, with a focus on the Heidelberg Printmaster 74-4. This 4-color unit sheet-fed press boasts a maximum speed of 12,000 sheets per hour. My responsibilities as a Pressman entail meticulous setup and operation procedures. Upon receiving a job folder containing printing plates, a job ticket, and instructions from prepress, I methodically analyze job details, including quantity, paper type, size, and weight. I then proceed to set up the feeder and load the paper, adjusting pressure and delivery settings accordingly. Next, I ensure proper ink levels and adjust printing plates as needed for color accuracy and registration. After meticulous alignment checks, I initiate the print run, vigilantly monitoring sheet quality throughout. For two-sided jobs, I meticulously mark and align each side for precise registration. Upon completion, jobs are marked with identifying details and processed for finishing, which may include cutting, varnishing, perforating, or scoring. Finished products are then prepared for mailing or further processing, including variable data printing and labeling if necessary. Ultimately, my role culminates in ensuring the seamless production and delivery of high-quality printed materials, adhering to industry standards and client specifications.
